As a mother to two Special Needs children, one Certified as Visually Impaired
and one diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, I have ensured a warm and safe
environment for them whilst always being available, ordering and administering
eye drops and other medications, maintaining up-to-date records of their
health conditions, making and attending doctors and dental appointments as
necessary.

As one member of two teams of MSAs, I would help set up the dining halls with
tables and benches ready for lunchtime. Having chosen their lunch preference
at Registration each child would be name and choice checked and given a
coloured cube denoting their choice. The children would then queue with
their cube which they handed in for their lunch choice. Policing the queue
was essential to the smooth running of the lunch service. Once the children
were seated with their lunches any requirements and situations were dealt
with efficiently. When lunchtime ended, the tables and benches were wiped
clean and stowed away for the next time and both dining halls were swept
and any items remaining ie school uniform were handed into Reception/Lost
Property after we had tried to reunite them with their owner. For the remainder
of lunchtime, the children were either outside where both teams of MSAs
would police the playgrounds or inside (Wet Play) where children would be
supervised whilst they undertook activities or read quietly.
